Ben Sweeney won’t even talk about writing a bio - that leaves me free to tell you things he would never say himself.  (I'm Marci McDonald, Ben's long time partner and designer of these metal projects.)  As you’ll see on this site, Ben is a metal craftsman with an unerring sense of strength, proportion and beauty. 

For most guys, that would be enough.  But Ben is also a skilled carpenter, certified Master Electrician, and a machinist who can fabricate anything and then some.  He has degrees in biology, and can tell you more about animals, birds and bugs than anyone I know.  He’s rebuilt classic Jags and Camaros from the pavement up, and keeps his 1986 Harley running like a Swiss watch. Omnivorous reader, former competitive weight lifter, award winning marksman and swimmer, terrific racquetball opponent.  Ex-Marine.  Plus - notoriously soft spoken and unassuming.

In the past 35 years, we’ve worked together on all kinds of things.  If you check out the serigraph “dashade” in the Printmaking section here – Ben pulled those prints (and all the rest of the serigraphs, for that matter.)  And he got exactly the color blends and perfect registration I was looking for.  During the many years I did art shows, Ben was almost always with me – driving, unloading, working the booth, reloading, and driving us home again.

Of all the things Ben can do, he enjoys the work we do together the most – and so do I.  We’d love to hear from you and get started on your project.
